In Epernay, on Monday the 1st of July, Diam Bouchage invited more than 40 great Champagne Houses emblematic of the region to attend the new Rendezvous Mytik Diam at the Hostellerie La Briqueterie.
This event brought together three leading figures under the theme "Champagne: How to adapt your offer without losing your soul":
Jacques Péters* one of the most iconic winemakers in Champagne, for more than 40 years, including Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin
Vincent Bastien* a leading expert in luxury, former director of major French luxury companies such as Louis Vuitton, Yves Saint Laurent Perfume, Sanofi Beauty
Bernard Burtschy* one of the leading critics of international wines.
These three experts each provided answers to the question at the heart of the challenges facing Champagne: can the style, the typical characteristics of each House accommodate a range of strategies designed to address the diverse demands of markets and consumer tastes?
During the closing lunch, the owners of the great Champagne Houses (Billecart Salmon, Bollinger, Besserat de Bellefon, Vranken, Mumm…) spoke about their selection of 'grands vins' corked with Mytik Diam closures that were available for tasting.
Every year, the Rendezvous Diam and Mytik Diam unites in each wine region those responsible for iconic Domains and Houses, Diam Bouchage customers, under the banner of a club of excellence, offering them the opportunity to interact with senior players, experts and figures of international stature, at a prestigious venue.
Diam Bouchage provides its customers with a unique occasion to access information otherwise difficult to find on strategic subjects of major interest and an opportunity to assist them in better understanding their environment and market.
*Vincent Bastien is also the Director of the Luxury Certificate at HEC, co-author with Jean-Noël Kapferer of "Luxe Oblige" (Eyrolles 2008) and of its English language version "The Luxury Strategy" (Kogan Page 2009)
* Bernard Burtschy is a journalist, taster, expert and member of the Grand Jury.
*Jacques Péters was the Cellar Master and Chief Winemaker at Veuve Clicquot for 31 years.
