A successful premier in the Vaucluse region for our RDV Diam held on 23rd January: the sixty-or-so people present were able to attend the debate coordinated by Olivier Poels, Deputy Chief Editor of the Revue des Vins de France, on the topic “the French consumer and organic wines” with a selection of speakers from different backgrounds:
Florent GUHL, Director of the BIO Agency, the French Agency for the Development and Promotion of Organic Agriculture
Patricia CHAIROPOULOS, head of the Food Section at 60 Million Consumers Magazine
Louise BROWAEYS, CSR agricultural engineer (AgroParisTech),
Eric BIRLOUEZ, agricultural engineer, sociologist specializing in agriculture and food
Paolo BASSO, World’s Best Sommelier 2013
First discussed in Bordeaux and then in Burgundy, the topic of organic wine once again triggered numerous reactions and questions that not only enabled an overview of the situation regarding organic wines in France to be established, but also led to a better understanding of consumer expectations and perception of the various labels falling within the scope of the umbrella term: “organic wine”.
During the lunch that brought the event to a close, vineyard owners were able to talk about their organic wines using Diam closures that were selected for tasting, as well as other eco-friendly initiatives.
